Date of Birth

Ayodeji Balogun Ibrahim popularly known as Wizkid was born on the 16th of July, 1990. He is a Nigerian singer, founder of Star Boy Entertainment, and also a songwriter. In addition, a prominent figure in the Afrobeats music scene. He was born in Surulere, Lagos State, Nigeria.

Education

He attended his secondary school at Ijebu Ode Grammar School before enrolling at Lagos State University (LASU). He later dropped out of school and afterward, he enlisted at Lead City University. Moreover, he dropped out after two educational sessions and focused on his music career.

Ayodeji Balogun Ibrahim was born into the family of Mr. and Mrs Alhaji Muniru Olatunji. For many years, his father who is a religious cleric showed no interest in Wizkid‘s Musical career. But with time he accepted the fact that Wizkid was meant to be an Artist. His mother Late Mrs. Jane Balogun was a Christian and stayed a Christian even when she was married into the Muslim tribe. Wizkid shared a warm and loving relationship with his family especially his mother (Late. Mrs Jane Balogun). Wizkid’s mother supported his career, which influenced his early involvement in singing at a local church from age 11.

His mother was a stay-at-home mom who took care of her kids. She gave birth to three children and Wizkid is one of them. Mrs Jane has always taken pride in his son’s accomplishments. Wizkid’s Father married three wives so he had 12 sisters born by all his father’s wives. Among the twelve sisters, two are his biological sisters.

Just like I mentioned earlier, Wizkid has two biological sisters, one is Older and the other is younger.  The two sisters are called Lade Balogun and Awoniyi Balogun. His Elder sister Yetunde lives in the USA and is currently a widow, while Lade is Currently Undergoing her Studies in Nigeria. Ayodeji Balogun Ibrahim started his Music Career at the young age of 11, so he gained prominence in the Afrobeats music scene. In 2011, Wizkid became popular after the release of his debut studio album “Superstar,” featuring hit singles like “Holla at Your Boys”. In 2016, he gained International recognition for his collaboration with Drake on the song “One Dance”. The song broke records and marked his entry into the global music arena.

His popular track “Essence” featuring Tems,  made history as the first Nigerian Song to be on Billboard Hot 100.
